CurationSoft Review
CurationSoft is one of a new breed of desktop content curation, publishing and productivity tools available on the software market today.
Like most desktop production software, CurationSoft boasts that it will increase productivity, decrease production time and create a greater web presence along with value to that presence.
This sounds great! But how will CurationSoft do all that?
Well, I’m a blogger and web publisher and I use content curation on my sites. I also like to work smarter not harder. Who doesn’t! So I bought CurationSoft and gave it a whirl.
First thing, CurationSoft is very easy to use. CurationSoft is a desktop application that runs on the Adobe AIR platform, so it runs on Windows and Mac. Installation is a breeze and launching the application is just as easy. Simply click on the application, login with your saved username and password and your off to the races, or the web in this case.
Searching sources is easy. Just enter your keyword into the search window, choose one of the eight preset search sources. CurationSoft will display your results in the window below. You can specify how many results you want displayed on each page in the settings section. Then simply scan and read the results that are most relevant to your search. When you’re ready, just drag and drop right into your WP post, HTML page or any HTML text editor. Simple!
CurationSoft features eight content sources, plus the ability to source and save any RSS feed. So your content sources are potentially unlimited.
Switching sources is easy.Enter your keyword and search in one source, curate your results, then simply switch sources in the sources window and search again without leaving the page. You will find what you are looking for and then some.
The curated posts are nice and neat with picture or video when included in original post. Descriptions and excerpts are informative. Appropriate credits and links back to the author and original post are always included in the curated post. So don’t worry about copyright. All results have proper licenses for photos. Blog posts are linked and sourced and all youtube videos are compliant with their terms of use.
CurationSoft publishes directly to your WP blog or site. There is no middle man taking away your credit, or link juice for that matter. All content you curate is now on your site with your original content linking back to the source. This creates powerful back links and better search engine ranking.
CurationSoft Summary
All in all, I am very pleased with my purchase. I bought the Pro version, which includes a one year usage license for you and your users on up to 3 PCs. Free updates are included and there is no limit on the amount of sites you can use CurationSoft on.
CurationSoft offers a free version as well, but it is ad supported and has only one content source. You can try the free version and easily upgrade if you are still on the fence about it. For me, it was a no brainer. A very small investment on a very powerful piece of software.
Also an FYI…. There are many sites claiming to have coupons and discounts towards your purchase of Curationsoft, these claims are Bogus! There are no coupons or discounts available at this time.
